Local

BGoldN

Calvary partners with BGoldN (formerly called the Golden Backpack Program) to support their work of feeding hungry students and their families through their Fresh Food Pantry, as well as a variety of programs in partnership with Golden schools. Mission: To increase food security in the Golden community through innovative partnerships and programs.

Be A Tool

Neighborhood Rehab Projects organizes “Be a Tool” events throughout the year at different locations. Calvary Calvary families and individuals partner with Be a Tool and the Together Church of Golden for a wonderful day each year of hands-on support with local Golden residents in need. Mission: to empower volunteers and homeowners to work together for the betterment of our community. This happens through service, skill development, and a strong focus on relational development.

Calvary Food Shelf

A team of Calvary members manage this pantry, which is regularly accessed by individuals and families in our community needing this type of assistance. Mission: To build relationships with and support our neighbors by providing access to healthy and fresh food.

Golden Pantry and Thrift

Several members of Calvary volunteer on a regular basis with this local organization that offers food from their pantry, clothing, and other items from their Thrift Shop, to individuals and families who live in Golden. Mission: To provide a sustainable food pantry and financial assistance to our community in crisis and/or experiencing hardship.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) - Mines

FCA at Colorado School of Mines in Golden uses the powerful platform of sport to reach every coach and every athlete with the transforming power of Jesus Christ. FCA focuses on serving our local community by engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to unite, inspire and change the world through the gospel. Calvary provides financial and other support to this vital campus ministry. Mission: FCA seeks to make disciples through the strategy of engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same.

GoFarm

Several Calvary members are engaged with this local non-profit that works to increase access in the community to local, fresh food. The sale of their CSA (community supported agriculture) shares supports various outreach programs that focus on specific populations who have limited access to fresh vegetables and fruit. Mission: To train and support local farmers, connect people with local agriculture, and increase equitable access to nutrient-rich food grown in Colorado.

Golden Rescue Fund

Calvary houses this community-based resource that provides emergency assistance with gas cards, bus passes, emergency food, grocery cards, and prescriptions for those traveling through our community, as well as residents who find themselves in need. Mission: To provide aid to community members and travelers finding themselves in a position of having short-term emergency needs.     

Hands of the Carpenter

Calvary supports this local ministry that addresses the transportation needs of women, especially single moms who are working, but don’t have the resources to repair their car or purchase a new vehicle. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available. Mission: Hands offers hope to single women with dependent children, while providing automobile services, partnering in their efforts to be employed and pursue economic self-sufficiency.

The Salvation Army/Golden Service Extension Unit (SEU)

Calvary houses this ministry and is a member of the Golden SEU Committee. A large number of our members ring bells each year at Christmas to raise funds that are used to assist Golden area residents with rent, utilities, prescriptions, medical bills and other needs. The Golden SEU also hosts the Back-to-School Shopping Spree each August to support Golden students in need with clothing, shoes, and a new backpack filled with school supplies. Mission: To provide financial assistance to individuals and families in the Golden community who need help with rent, utilities, medical co-pays, and prescriptions.

Regional

CrossPurpose

Calvary provides financial support for this Denver Metro Area organization. Mission: Cross Purpose is a non-profit organization working to abolish relational, economic, and spiritual poverty through career and community development.

International Rescue Committee(IRC)

Volunteers work with this organization to help refugees get settled in the Denver Metro Area. Any donations of household items or furniture can be made directly to IRC. Mission: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people affected by humanitarian crises, including the climate crisis, to survive, recover and rebuild their lives.

Saint Clare’s Ministries

Volunteers serve those experiencing homlessness and poverty on Tuesdays at the Episcopal Church of St. Peter & St. Mary in Denver. Mission: Saint Clare’s Ministries offers short-term respite from the harsh realities of homelessness and poverty by offering a hot, homemade meal, clothing, spiritual support and a caring community to those in need.

St. Francis Center

Volunteers serve at this Denver day shelter for the homeless during the week, and on the 4th Sunday morning of each month. Calvary also provides a wide variety of donations on a regular basis. Mission: The mission of St. Francis Center is to offer refuge and peace for our community members who experience homelessness, helping them meet their basic needs and transition out of homelessness.

Global

Compassion International

Calvary hosts a Compassion International event annually. Mission: Compassion International is a child-advocacy ministry pairing compassionate people with children living in extreme poverty to release the children from spiritual, economic, social, and physical poverty.

Freshwater Project International

Calvary provides financial support for this non-profit organization that works in Malawi, Africa. Mission: To provide clean water, safe sanitation and hygiene facilities to people in villages, schools, and health care centers in Malawi.
